Library Life Safety System Installation

The Peoria Public Downtown Library has undergone extensive renovations and remodeling of its existing facility. The new design significantly opens every floor to allow more patron use in lieu of closed book stack areas. The remodeled design opened up the Peoria Public Main Library to allow more natural light penetration as well as updated the facility to a more modern library system to carry them into the future. Design features include a new skylight and light well that extends between all four floors allowing light to reach the two basement levels.

Emergency Systems – Fire Alarm / Mass Notification System, Area of Refuge Rescue Assistance System

The system installed here is an Edwards EST3-60 fire alarm and mass notification system throughout. It has speakers throughout the facility to direct occupants during an emergency such as fire alarm, severe weather, intruder threat, and hazardous disaster.

The area of refuge rescue assistance system installed here is a Cornell 4200 Series. This system allows occupants with special needs to notify emergency personnel via audible and visual notification. Once answered, the occupant can communicate directly with the emergency personnel notifying the need for assistance in evacuation.
