As of January 2026, Thompson Electronics Company proudly operates under a new name: Scutum. 

Founded in 1980 by Craig Thompson, Thompson Electronics Company built a strong reputation across Illinois as a trusted, relationship-driven provider of audiovisual, nurse call, mass communication, fire alarm, and security solutions. For more than four decades, our team has delivered expertly designed and professionally installed systems that protect people, facilities, and infrastructure statewide. 

In November 2023, Thompson Electronics Company joined Scutum, a global leader in security and fire protection with more than 30 years of expertise across North America and Europe, and a growing national footprint across the United States. This partnership expanded our resources, capabilities, and reach while preserving the local expertise and personalized service our clients expect. 

With Craig Thompson’s retirement in April 2025, this transition represents the next chapter in our evolution.
