College Campus Security System Installation
Thompson Electronics Company has enjoyed a long-term successful relationship with Illinois Central College. The Illinois Central College (ICC) education facilities reside on the ICC Main Campus located in East Peoria, Illinois and the ICC North Campus located in Peoria, Illinois. Thompson Electronics Company actively supports both the ICC access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and video surveillance systems at each campus.
The primary challenge of the ICC Main Campus access control system design was the difficulty of the architectural design of the large Academic Building. The poured concrete structure of the serpentine floor plan made a conventional wired access control system impossible. Thompson Electronics Company utilized the wireless access control solution from Identicard PremiSys which communicated to Schlage Allegion AD400 wireless lockset hardware for real time alarm reporting, system cardholder additions/deletions/modifications, and system update communication.
The architectural design of the ICC North Campus allowed the use of Schlage Allegion AD 300 “wired” lockset hardware. Both the ICC Main Campus and North Campus Identicard PremiSys access control systems communicate seamlessly over the ICC Wide Area Network (WAN). Both the Schlage Allegion AD300 and AD400 locksets contain all elements of an access control portal including the electro-mechanical latchbolt, the Request-To-Exit sensor, the door position switch, and the proximity credential card reader.
The ICC video surveillance system design is standardized with AXIS Communications fixed and Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) cameras and ExacqVision Video Management System (VMS) software. The Axis Communications Ultra Hi-Definition video security system cameras are placed at all critical surveillance and student/staff/visitor circulation.
The access control and video surveillance systems are fully integrated with an interactive graphic MAP running on a security workstation in the ICC Security Command Center. Video-follow on alarm assist search officers with immediate response to each incident. The access control/video surveillance maps also provide a direct locational relationship and immediate response for active shoot crisis scenarios.
