Hospital Communication and Nurse Call System Installation

The Carle Foundation Hospital upgraded and relocated the Clinical Decisions Unit from the Fourth Floor to the First Floor of the hospital to better align care with the Emergency Department, Clinical Decisions Unit, and the Expanded Care Department. The new unit will complement the operation of the soon to be completed Heart and Vascular Institute project currently underway on the main campus of the hospital.

Within the Clinical Decisions Unit, there are three types of care areas that may be used in a variety of ways. Some areas are set aside as an observation area for patients who may have been admitted through the emergency department and require additional monitoring time. Another area of the Clinical Decisions Unit is set up with upright patient chairs for “sit down” medical treatments that may require time and observation of treatment. A third area of the CDU is set up as an overflow for either extended care patients or for Emergency Room overflow. Each patient bed or treatment bay has access to full-duplex digital voice audio communication to nursing staff. Pillow Speaker TV. Audio delivery will minimize noise and convenient pillow speaker light controls assure that the patients’ stay in this area will be as safe and comfortable as possible.

The Telligence Nurse Call System serving the Clinical Decisions Unit will be fully integrated with the full Telergy software suite being added to the Heart Vascular Institute project

The Ascom Telligence Nurse Call is operating with the existing Dukane ProCare 6000. All of the existing ProCare Connect Software will be upgraded to the Telergy Software package that will be installed as part of the Heart and Vascular Institute project’s Telligence Nurse Call System. The ProCare 6000 and Tellligence nurse call systems both operate on the Telergy Software System.

As Carle Foundation Hospital moves forward, additional units will be converted to the Telligence Nurse Call System assuring a continued legacy of patient care facilitated by the Telligence Nurse Call System.
