Tom Kerckhove is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Thompson Electronics Company, offering experience and knowledge to the team. With a B.S. in Business from Southern Illinois University and an A.S. in Technical Writing and Electrical Engineering, Tom has built a solid foundation in both business strategy and technical knowledge. Throughout his career, Tom has driven sustained growth by building high-performing teams and developing processes that effectively adapt to changing competitive environments.
In his role, Tom’s primary goal is to achieve the company’s revenue and margin targets. He takes great pride in using his experience and analytical skills to craft both short- and long-term strategic approaches to meet these objectives. By closely measuring results and adjusting strategies as needed, he is committed to ensuring success and finding satisfaction in achieving or surpassing set targets.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys outdoor activities and cherishes spending time with his family whenever possible.
What I am working on
An ever-present area of attention is revenue growth with sustained margin. My current initiatives include building our recurring revenue streams and furthering growth in our Naperville office.
What I'm passionate about
Thompson Electronics has a strong, long-standing, positive work culture among team members. We have been growing rapidly in the last several years which has allowed us to add to the team. It is exciting to see this new energy and experience adding to our already great work environment. I am most passionate about adding to this positive culture as it naturally extends to the customers we serve.
Industry trends
The most current industry trend is regarding the emergence of artificial intelligence and how it will affect our low voltage integration business immediately and in the near future. We are beginning to see adoption of this technology along with further discussion on next steps occurring daily. This is a primary topic at all of the upcoming industry conferences and trade events in this coming year. We are also seeing a customer driven trend to reduce their number of vendors by choosing companies that provide one place to go to for their daily needs. Recurring revenue has been an area of focus in our industry for many years. Through industry pursuit of this in general, we are now seeing the development of ways to serve segments that were previously not considered. We can extend the range of services we provide to our customers which allows them to simplify their buying decisions.
