We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Account Representative (Service Contracts) to join one of our entities, Thompson Electronics Company (TEC), at their 751 Frontenac Road Suite #115, Naperville, IL 60563 location. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our continued growth and success.
With its main office in Peoria, IL, since 1980, TEC has been a trusted leader in the design, installation, project management, and service of cutting-edge business electronic systems with expertise in: Audiovisual Systems; Mass Communication Solutions; Emergency Communication Systems; Security and Surveillance Technologies; Life Safety Solutions; Fire Alarm Systems; Repairs, Maintenance, and Ongoing Service. TEC delivers a high-quality client service that ensures 24/7 protection to all commercial, industrial, and government accounts.
The Account Representative will be responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships while securing long-term service contracts for Thompson Electronics Company’s integrated life safety, security, audiovisual, and communications solutions. This role focuses on prospecting and engaging with decision-makers in key markets such as healthcare, education, government, commercial, and houses of worship. The Account Representative will work closely with internal teams to ensure client needs are met, solutions are delivered on time, and client satisfaction remains high, while consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
In addition to the above, the following are the duties and responsibilities of the Account Representative:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a book of business using strategic prospecting with Facility Managers, IT Directors, Building Owners, Educational Institutions, Healthcare Administrators, and Corporate Security Teams within assigned territories.
- Pursue service contract opportunities actively for fire alarm, security systems, access control, CCTV, audiovisual, nurse call, and mass notification systems across TEC’s target markets.
- Cultivate and expand diverse revenue streams from existing Clients while developing new territories.
- Identify, qualify, and assess Client needs to recommend tailored solutions leveraging TEC’s full suite of technology and service offerings.
- Conduct on-site facility assessments to support accurate proposals and ensure integrated solutions align with the Client’s operational, safety, and security requirements.
- Prepare professional proposals, contract packages, and supporting materials for both planned and reactive service needs, upgrades, and retrofit projects.
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly sales activity reports, as well as semi-annual and annual business development plans.
- Stay informed on industry trends, new technology, and code/regulatory changes that impact TEC’s service offerings.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of Thompson Electronics Company’s organizational structure, department workflows, and service delivery processes.
- Knowledge of TEC’s core offerings, including fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, audiovisual, nurse call, and mass notification systems—products, operation, and functionality.
- Knowledge of other major manufacturer systems (both proprietary and open-platform) and their application within integrated life safety, security, and communications solutions.
- Understanding of the full life safety and security service market, including client needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
- Ability to read, interpret, and strategically use system drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Familiarity with applicable building codes, NFPA standards, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to prospect, qualify leads, assess needs, articulate value-driven solutions, negotiate, and close profitable service contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM/sales tracking systems or similar.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong skills in problem-solving, decision-making, communication (verbal and written), presentations, interpersonal engagement, organization, and time management.
