Quick Update: the 1st Place for the Mens 60+ division went to Bill Melton.  I made a mistake when calling out the places at the event and most of you were gone by the time we fixed it.  Everyone give Bill a round of applause from your homes.   Bill, I have a hat with your name on it....I will contact you separately regarding that though.

As a side note...My apologies again for those of you who got lost on the course, Me and the cleanup crew, including the person who lead the lost group (*cough*cough* ERIC BERRY* Cough Cough*)  ran the course after everyone left and found the corner that was missed by the group.....  It was about as clearly marked as it could have been.  There's not much more we could have done there.  My apologies again for the issues.....maybe next year we'll do some signs that indicate you missed a turn???

Thought the course was clearly marked Greg. What do you guess the course length to be? Several remarked that it may be a bit over 10K, but I don't wear a Garmin, so I'm asking.
Thanks for a fun day.

When we marked the course we GPS'd it at 6.6mi....but that was a lot of zigzagging to set up markers and what-not....

Ann's GPS came up as 6.36 when she crossed the finish line today.

so GPS best guess is somewhere in there....we knew it was a little long but not by toooooo much.

if anyone else had a GPS going today and wants to chime in that would be great....the more the better the quality of the average.

Greg, my friend Brian was in that group and he commented that it was totally their fault that they missed that turn.  He said his gut told him to go back but he kept following that pack.  Finally, he voiced that they missed that turn and someone said the red tape meant not to turn there  Huh  He'll know better next time!  Great race, great jacket!  My wife is now jealous.

I thought it was another great event, Greg. Many thanks to you and everyone that helped. I guess its bound to be good when you have an all-star cast of RD's from other CITRA events helping out!

Like one of the other guys that got lost said...its going to be easy to beat our pb for the course next year...I'm still happy because I got my jacket and I got some quality training in and that's the reason I was running in the first place.

Great job on the race Greg!  Just sad I didn't run it.  Had fun volunteering though!

Likewise Greg!  thanks also for exposing us to what I like to call cactusland.  It's a great alternative in wet conditions because rain water doesn't puddle and make slop in the sand, and it's also pretty close to my place.

eberry- well said, good attitude!

One of things I like the most about the race was how Mitch started it off with the National Anthem. It was a very nice moment when everyone joined in. It takes a lot of guts to sing in front of a tough crowd (like us)--my (CITRA) hat off to you Mitch.

Smiley Thanks, Ann.
I knew the words very well before that moment at which I couldn't figure out what the broad stripes and bright stars were doing (through the perilous fight o'er the ramparts we watched).  It turns out they were galantly streaming! I very much appreciated the help, crowd!  That was a great moment!

Hey Mitch huge regret we were getting everyone to the aid stations and road crossings really sorry we missed it, but there were a lot of people with you in spirit.

It is great to see small venues, no matter what they are, going the extra mile to make sure events start off with this.

Ain't no better song, very well done.

Yep...Mitch Is the official National Anthem singer for all my future races ...we'll pretend to have you forget the lyrics again at the next race to get people singing... the plan was executed perfectly Smiley
