CRUD 8 Hour Trail Run-SOLO and RELAY
Feb 8th, 2010, 10:42pm

Hey everyone-it's official-The inaugural CRUD 8 Hour Trail Run will take place May 22, 2010 at Jubilee State Park.

Check out the website for more info:  www.crud8trailrun.com

Registration opens tomorrow at www.runrace.net    you can also link to it from the website.

Start talking some smack and get a relay team together.  It's going to be awesome.  And part of the proceeds are going to benefit local veterans!

I've never done a timed ultra - I look forward to being able to see the fast people, too!  You know, not just the back-o-the-packers like me - not that there's anything wrong with you guys (well, not much at least...)

...and I'm just gonna stop diggin'.   Grin

I understand, it will be nice to see some new faces , at least every 3.1 miles or so.  I just wonder how many times the top finisher will lap me.  My goal is to not get lapped on my first lap.

Actually, my initial goal is to do 11 laps (or 34.1 miles in 8 hours compared to my Farmdale pace of 32 miles in 8 hours and 10 minutes).  This goal may change either way depending on my training from here on out.

The relay concept sounds interesting, but it just seems like cheating to me.

I'm not gonna set a distance goal since Kettle Moraine is two weeks later, I just want to spend 8 hours on the trail.  If I get 11 laps in that would be great, but I won't beat myself up over it!  That's roughly what I figured I'd try for though, too with maybe a mile loop at the end for good measure.

Great website!!!  I don't know if I'm up for running the full 8 hours, but that relay looks like a lot of fun, cheating or not!!!

Already working on my relay team.  I'm a cheetah.  I'm calling dibs right now on that as our team name.  Wow, $1500 1st place prize to the first relay team.  Now that's quite a deal.

Hmmmm.....  I was thinking this would be too close to Kettle, but it would work as a relay.

I've been hearing a lot of talk about how "close" this 8 Hour is to Kettle.

A couple of things-a lot of you guys are ULTRA runners.  C'mon, you can recover in two weeks.  Also if you're going for a PR at Kettle-then get a relay team of two or three, that way you'll have more time on the trail.  It'll be a great run two weeks out from Kettle.
Remember-relay teams can be from 2-4 people.

Speaking of Kettle-who's all planning on going?  I'll be doing the traditional relay team again.  It's a blast.
